About Karen...
I've always been fascinated by people.
Why we do the things we do.
Why some conversations bring us closer and others push us further apart.
Why we can know ourselves deeply and still find ourselves repeating things we don't want to repeat.
For a long time I thought the answer was more awareness.
More understanding, more self-development.
And to be fair, I gave it a good go, I did all of it.
The books, therapy, courses, retreats.
I knew my patterns, triggers, stories.
The frustrating part?
It didn’t change my life …. I still didn't feel how I wanted it to.
I remember feeling like I was missing a page.
Like everybody else had somehow been given a piece of information I hadn't.
Because I knew all the things.
So why was I still here?
What I eventually realised was that the things keeping me stuck didn't look unusual to me.
They looked normal.
They were so familiar I'd stopped seeing them.
The ways I reacted, conversations I avoided, things I tolerated, stories I believed.
The patterns I'd mistaken for personality.
The protective behaviours I'd never thought to question.
And that's the thing, we're all standing inside our own lives.
We're too close to see what's really running the show.
Which is why, no matter how self-aware we are, there are things we simply don't see.
That became an obsession.
Not fixing people, Not changing people.
But Understanding people, starting with myself….. Understanding why we do what we do.
Why we repeat what we repeat.
Why we can know better and still find ourselves stuck.
Today, that's the work I do.
I help women recognise the things they've stopped seeing.
The patterns, blind spots, emotional needs underneath behaviour.
The ways they've learnt to stay safe, connected, liked, needed, in control or out of trouble.
Things that may once have served them brilliantly.
But no longer serve the life they want now.
My clients often tell me I'm spectacular at seeing the thing underneath the thing.
The thing that’s been hiding in plain sight …..they've been walking past for years.
The thing that suddenly makes everything else make sense.
That's why Communication DNA ™ exists.
That's why file|delete™ exists.
That's why In Her Skin exists.
Because once we can see what's really running the show, we have a choice.
And that's where things start to change.
Not because we become somebody different.
Because we finally understand ourselves differently.
